“Deep Tissue Massage is the understanding of the layers of the body and the ability to work with tissue in those layers to relax,
lengthen and release holding patterns in the most effective and energy efficient way possible.” – Art Riggs
One of the most requested modalities, Deep Tissue is an advance massage method with great results. Deep tissue massage is a form of massage that focuses on the reorientation of deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially useful for chronically stressed and cramped areas such as stiff neck, low back pain and sore shoulders. When there is a chronic muscle strain, there are usually adhesions (bands of painful, stiff tissue) in the muscles, tendons and ligaments. Adhesions can block blood circulation, cause pain and limit the freedom of movement. Adhesions also prevent the free flow of energy through the body. Deep Tissue Massage works by physically breaking down these adhesions.
Benefits of Deep Tissue Massage:
- Releases fascia and realigns muscle fibers
- Myofascial release
- Allows emotional holding to release
- Assists in postural realignment
- Decreases pain
- Breaks down adhesions
- Increases energy
- Increases range of motion
- Whole body feels looser – relaxed
- Lumpy areas are now smooth
- Helps with sleeping problems
In most cases massage is considered an eligible expense for your FSA or HSA account.
What Our Clients Say
Vicky was amazing! She was welcoming, explained everything about what she planned to do, and left me feeling like a million bucks in spite of the knot in my shoulder blade that prompted my quick appointment. She expertly worked thru my layers of pain and talked me through breathing appropriately. She made me feel very comfortable in general, and I will be going back over and over! – Elaine B.
